Change of thoughts, gaining new information, new terms, exciting and attractive, all of there reflections were shared with us by Bethlehem University students during the training provided by MUNTADA- The Arab Forum for Education, Sexuality and Reproductive Health in Palestine, in cooperation with deanship of student affairs, implemented during 35 hours between 3 of March and 28 April 2018.
During the training many topics were discussed, from which, sexuality form a social and ethical pertspectuive, sexuaity and childhood, sexulaity and adulthood, sexual violence, inemecuiy and love and sexiuality and gender. These topic were presented in new unconstitutional forms as described by the students “exciting and attractive” which led to increase their interest in learning more about these contents.
The students also talked about the new terminologies they learned through the workshop which they were not aware of before such as “wet dreams”, and to learn how to use it in a correct scientific and societal context, they also talked about how their perspectives changed regarding many issues connected to sexual awareness such as the LGBT community.
There was also a positive feedback on the techniques used by the trainer and how she presented information in an unconditional way by using catalyst questions and giving a space for each participant to express her own opinion, which helped the students as they mentioned “to gain valuable information about many different topics, and by so changing their preconceptions which they gained from surrounding community and family”, the workshop also created a safe space to argue and share thoughts without hesitation which helped widen their thoughts and understanding about each topic.
